Ready to Enter the Debut Dagger?

2nd November 2016

The CWA’s competition for the start of a crime novel by an unpublished writer is underway!

Is this the year you will enter? And maybe get shortlisted, or even win?

The prize for the winner is £500, but even if you’re longlisted your work is seen by the Debut Dagger judges who include top literary agents and publishers. If you’re shortlisted, it will also be brought to the attention of many more agents and publishers as that’s part of the prize.

Mark Brandi won in 2016 and already has an agent. Roz Watkins was shortlisted – and her novel, The Devil’s Dice, is being published by HarperCollins. She has just been accepted as a CWA member.

As long as you’re not or ever have been a traditionally published novelist, you’re eligible to enter.

28 February 2017 is the closing date. Good luck!
