The Killing Club – Paul Finch
Paul Finch has trod the sodden streets of Manchester both as a cop and as a journalist. He then learned his creative writing skills by contributing television scripts to The Bill. (Often cited as the most true-to-life of all British TV crime dramas.) This combination of experiences can often be sensed in plots that are taut, with a strong air of the authentic.
DS Mark ‘Heck’ Heckenburg is used to crime scene bloodbaths. But nothing can prepare him for this. Heck’s most dangerous case to date is open again. Two years ago, countless victims were found dead, massacred at the hands of Britain’s most terrifying gang. The Nice Guys Club were a team of professional killers and kidnappers with special forces and mercenary backgrounds. The first time they clashed, Heck managed to put several of them away, but he was left with the agonising suspicion that several had evaded justice.
When brutal murders start happening across the country, it’s clear the Nice Guys are at work again. Their victims are killed in broad daylight, by any means necessary. And Heck knows it won’t be long before they come for him.
