Margery Allingham Short Story Competition
A lot of readers are writers, too. Whether you’re a bestselling author or an aspiring wordsmith, if you have a short mystery in the works, the Margery Allingham Short Story Competition wants to see it!
You don’t need to be published, and you don’t have to be a CWA member. All you need is an original, unpublished story of 3,500 words or less that fit Margery Allingham’s description of a mystery:
“The Mystery remains box-shaped, at once a prison and a refuge. Its four walls are, roughly, a Crime, a Mystery, an Enquiry and a Conclusion with an Element of Satisfaction in it.”
In addition to the honour of the win, the author of the winning entry will receive a cash prize of £500.
The deadline for entry is 29 February 2024. More details here.
