A virtual book festival for crime fiction – and it’s free!
MyVLF.com, the multi-award winning virtual book festival venue, is holding a dedicated Crime & Thriller Fest on March 28th, and it is totally free to attend, wherever you are in the world.
Launched just last year by three writers, MyVLF aims to connect readers and authors through its virtual festivals, exhibition hall, chat area and book club. It gives readers access to the best of today’s fiction and non-fiction from both traditionally and indie published authors globally. It is totally free to sign up and because there’s no need for anyone to travel, it’s accessible and good for the environment.
Last year, the website won start-up of the year at the Bookseller’s FutureBook, BookTech awards, the most prestigious accolade for a digital start-up. This was after being short-listed for the US equivalent, the Digital Book World awards, losing out to Amazon. Plus MyVLF has won two Jersey tech Awards, Best Digital start-up and Best Creative Project of the Year.
MyVLF.com looks like a real venue with a theatre, café and even an exhibition hall where readers can view author and publisher stands. It uses a combination of a virtual environment with a standard website, that makes it easy to use.
Following two highly successful general festivals in 2019, MyVLF has announced several genre specific events for 2020, with Crime and Thriller authors appearing on March 28th.
In addition to the live events, there are already a host of best-selling author interviews available now to watch in the MyVLF Theatre from previous festivals. These include: Peter James, Mark Billingham, Rachel Abbott, C.L. Taylor, Tess Gerritsen, Adam Croft and many more.
The founders, Gwyn GB, Kelly Clayton and Deborah Carr, wanted to create a friendly place for readers to come and interact with authors. It can be expensive to travel to festivals and it takes time away from busy author schedules to attend. The site is not affiliated with any particular retailer or publisher. It is all about connecting readers and authors, giving book lovers the chance to find new writers as well as watch talks by old favourites.
