Kate Rhodes was born in London but now lives in Cambridge, with her husband Dave Pescod who is also a writer. Kate completed an English degree and PhD, then taught for several years at American universities, before teaching in the UK. She published two collections of poems, Reversal and The Alice Trap before becoming a crime writer. Kate has been nominated for the Forward prize and has been a Hawthornden Fellow.

Kate is writing a 5 book series, featuring the London-based forensic psychologist, Alice Quentin. Based on the strength of her first crime novel, Crossbones Yard, Kate was selected by Val Mcdermid to sit on the New Blood panel at the Harrogate Crime festival in 2012. Crossbones Yard garnered excellent reviews in 2012. The Sun described its plot as taut, with ‘great twists, turns and surprises.’ The Daily Mail stated that ‘Quentin is one of a cast of really believable and entertaining characters, and both the plot and the writing keep one thoroughly engaged throughout.’

Kate’s second psychological thriller was published in 2013, and The Winter Foundlings is due for publication in 2014. In addition to writing novels, Kate also writes occasional pieces for the Telegraph, the Mail on Sunday and the Guardian. her short story Two Florida Blondes is due for publication in 2014 in the anthology, The Mammoth Book of Crime.
