Mary C. Rawlinson is Senior Research Fellow, Institute for Advanced Studies, University College London and Emerita Professor of Philosophy, Stony Brook University.
Rawlinson’s recent publications include The Betrayal of Substance: death, literature, and sexual difference in Hegel’s Phenomenology of Spirit (Columbia University Press, 2021), Just Life: bioethics and the future of sexual difference (Columbia University Press, 2016), and articles on literature and ethics. Her next book Liminal Ethics investigates the idea of justice in crime fiction (forthcoming, Bloomsbury, 2023).
Rawlinson was founding editor of IJFAB: International Journal of Feminist Bioethics (2006-2016) and Co-founder and Director of The Irigaray Circle (2007-2017). She serves on the Editorial Board of Mean Streets: a journal of crime fiction.
Other Awards
Rawlinson has won various university awards recognising excellence in teaching and mentoring, as well as several grants supporting her research on structural injustice.
