Born in Nottingham but raised on the shores of the Solent, I served in the Portsmouth Police and married a Pompey girl. Later, the Prison Service offered broad but now out of date experience as a Hostage Negotiator Trainer 1987-1995, Senior Investigating Officer 1995-2008 and Incident Management (in Silver and Gold Suites) 1992-2008. My first crime novel appeared in 2003 and my seventeenth in 2023. I have also written local histories, blues biographies and literary criticism. I ran a second-hand bookshop in Market Harborough for over twenty years Now retired but still writing and very busy, I present a two hour programme of jazz records each Sunday night followed by sixty minutes of deep fried Southern blues on my local community fm station.
