Thomas Mogford

Thomas Mogford is the author of a series of crime novels which follow the life and career of a lawyer from Gibraltar named Spike Sanguinetti. The first in the series, Shadow of the Rock, was a Spectator ‘Book of the Year’, and was shortlisted for the Crime Writers’ Association ‘Dagger’ award for best debut novel. Both the sequel, Sign of the Cross, and follow-up, Hollow Mountain, were shortlisted for Crimefest’s ‘eDunnit’ award, with the latter going on to top the bestseller charts in Australia. The fourth novel, Sleeping Dogs, was selected as one of the Guardian‘s ‘Best Holiday Reads’, while the latest Sanguinetti, A Thousand Cuts, was hailed by The Sunday Times as ‘a traditional and thoroughly satisfying crime novel’.

Thomas’s journalism has featured in the Guardian, Time Out and easyJet Traveller Magazine. His short fiction has been published in Litro, The Field and Notes from the Underground, and been longlisted for the Bristol Short Story Prize.

He is currently working on a Victorian adventure novel about a young plant hunter who embarks on a perilous expedition to China.
