William Burton McCormick writes thriller fiction, both historical and modern, set mainly in Eastern Europe. His work has appeared in Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine, Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine, The Saturday Evening Post, Sherlock Holmes Mystery Magazine and the CWA Anthology of Short Stores: Mystery Tour (Orenda Books). He is a graduate of the Creative Writing Programme at the University of Manchester and studied Russian language and history at Moscow State University. A world traveller, William has lived in seven countries including Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Ukraine. He was elected a Hawthornden Writing Fellow in Scotland in 2013.
William’s novel of revolution in the Baltic States, Lenin’s Harem (Endeavour Press) was published in both English and Latvian. It became the first work of fiction ever added to the Latvian War Museum’s permanent library in Riga.
He is currently working on a modern thriller, KGB Banker, with John Christmas, a whistle-blower against the Russian mob.
