I’ve worked as a teacher, teacher-trainer and university lecturer, and only turned to writing fiction after I’d taken early retirement.

My DI Angus Blue crime thrillers, set around Oban and the inner Hebrides, are published by ThunderPoint Publishing . There are three so far, The Peat Dead (2019), The Dead of Jura (2020) and The Dead of Appin (2022). The Peat Dead was shortlisted for the McIlvanney Debut Prize at the Bloody Scotland Crime Festival.

My DCI Juri Hamlets series, published by Sharpe Books, is set in 1930s Estonia. Death in Tallinn was published in 2020, and Winter Blood in 2022.

I also write short stories for iScot magazine and book reviews for Aspects of History. My short story collection, Tales Murderous and Mysterious, was published in November 2022 by ThunderPoint Publishing.

I live in Glasgow. My wife and I spend a lot of time in the Hebrides We also visit Estonia regularly, and I’ve translated from Estonian a ‘closed-room’ mystery, The Oracle, originally published in 1937.
