Alison Joseph is a London-based crime writer and radio dramatist. She was born in North London and educated at Leeds University. After graduating she worked as a presenter on a local radio station then, moving back to London, for Channel 4. She later became a partner in an independent production company and one of its commissions was the series Through the Devil’s Gateway, about women and religion, presented by Helen Mirren.

Alison has written about 25 radio plays and adaptations, including the Sony award-winning abridgement of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. She is the author of the series of novels featuring Sister Agnes, a contemporary detective nun based in South London, as well as a crime novel about particle physics, featuring DI Berenice Killick, called Dying to Know. She is the author of three novellas featuring a (fictional) Agatha Christie as a detective. Her new series stars Malone, a London-based detective from Galway. Alison was Chair of the Crime Writers Association from 2013-2015, and is a founder member of the Killer Women collective.
