Gerald Hansen

Gerald Hansen, a self-proclaimed US Navy brat, started school in Thailand, graduated high school in Iceland, with pit stops in Germany, California, and his mother’s hometown of Derry, Northern Ireland, along the way. With a degree from Dublin City University and stints living in London and Berlin, Gerald eventually found his way to New York City.
There, he wrote the popular dark humour Derry Women Series. The bestselling An Embarrassment of Riches, earned accolades, including being American comedian Colin Quinn’s second favorite book of all time and described as “hysterical” by Publishers Weekly.
After writing eight full-length novels and a few Around the World with Jet Lag Jerry travelogues, Gerald relocated to California during the pandemic. During an extended stay with his parents in Derry, he decided to switch gears. With so much Scandi-noir on the shelves, he thought it was high time for some Derry-noir.
Enter the Derry Murder Mysteries, where DI Liam McLaughlin, DS Nancy D’Arcy, and their team tackle the city’s most heinous crimes as part of the Major Investigation Team of the PSNI.
