The Crime Readers' Association

Jean Goodhind

Sub-genre:

It’s thirty years since I first began writing – unbelievable I thought for a girl from one of the toughest council estates in Bristol.

I was published about fourteen months later with Virgin and went on to be published by the likes of Headline, PRH, Orion, Aufbau Berlin, Boldwood and lately, Joffe Books plus a number of others who I wasn’t too impressed with.

I also won a BBC New Writers’ Award for a short play and wrote for my own column in the Western Daily Press for some years.

My thirteen book Honey Driver cosy crime series set in Bath was a big seller in Germany before doing well here. As you are all no doubt aware nobody wants cosy crime in England – that was until Richard Osman came along! Thanks also are due to Joffe Books who made them successful both here and in the US.

So thirty years on and over fifty books published, I’m not finished yet. A new series is in the offing.

Other Awards

BBC Radio New Writers’ Award.
