Jo Furniss
Sub-genre: Humour, mystery, noir, psychological, suspense
After spending a decade as a broadcast journalist for the BBC, Jo Furniss gave up the glamour of night shifts to become a freelance writer and serial expatriate. Originally from the United Kingdom, she spent seven years in Singapore and also lived in Switzerland and Cameroon for almost ten years.
Jo’s debut novel, All the Little Children (2017), was an Amazon Charts bestseller. That was followed by two more psychological thrillers, The Trailing Spouse (2018) and The Last to Know (2020), all published by Lake Union (Amazon Publishing).
In 2024, Jo moved to Zaffre (Bonnier Books) with a crime novel called Dead Mile, a murder mystery set on a gridlocked motorway. The follow up is called Guilt Trip and will be published in summer 2025.
Jo also writes for the Short History Of podcast from Noiser. She has worked for numerous online outlets and magazines, including the UN, Monocle and the Economist, and has edited books for a Nobel laureate and the palace of the Sultan of Brunei. She has a Distinction in MA Professional Writing from Falmouth University.
