A Londoner with Irish heritage, Jennie Ensor writes daring, emotionally-charged psychological suspense and crime fiction, often with a thread of dark humour. She lives with her husband and an Airedale terrier in London and the French Pyrenees, where she loves gazing at the night sky, swimming in mountain lakes and setting off on long walks in the wilderness.
Jennie began her writing career as a freelance journalist, often writing investigative pieces about wrongdoing in one form or another. She’s drawn to tackling challenging topics in her books: Russian gangsters, terrorism and war crimes in her debut Blind Side and sexual abuse in The Girl in His Eyes. Her crime thriller Silenced, a semi-finalist in the 2022 Book Bloggers Novel of the Year competition, features a teenage girl and boy who are drawn into a gang and the detective who tries to bring it down.
Jennie’s most recent book The Bad Neighbour is a psychological thriller set in an English village during the 2020 lockdown. Two women suspect their mutual neighbour is hiding a horrific secret… and they may be in grave danger.
As well as novels, Jennie writes poetry. Her prose poem Lost Connection placed second in the 2020 Fish Lockdown Prize.
