After twelve years in the Army as a tank commander I served for the next thirty with Essex Police. Twenty-seven of those was spent as a detective.

I started at the bottom solving such crimes as burglary and robbery before moving into covert policing then counter terrorism and close protection on Special Branch.

For the last six years of my service, I was a Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) leading more than a hundred major investigations, including 30 murder enquiries.

I retired in 2010 with a lot of experience, fond memories and a fund of interesting stories. All of which I draw on for inspiration in my writing.

I am the author of the Christian Dane crime series, published by Sharpe Books.
