Having had a board level career in property media and finance has given me a couple of advantages when turning to writing crime novels. Firstly, along with the decent and talented people, I’ve met my fair share of the corrupt, the greedy, the charlatans, the bullies and the bullshit pedlars. They are great character and plot material. Secondly, every good business presentation I have ever attended or written is essentially a compelling story with fictional elements.
I’m fascinated by what motivates people.
Outside of business I have served on the board of Landmine Action and been in the field in Western Sahara, meeting some of the most impressive and dedicated people imaginable. At fifty I went back to college and achieved a first class degree in History of Art. With my dog I walked the 600 mile SWCP for cancer charities, and the coast of Goa to fund a local school library. I’m also a very poor golfer.
I’m fortunate to live in glorious West Somerset with a large and tolerant family, and several less tolerant dogs
