From a very young age cosy black-and-white mystery films of the forties, fifties and sixties have enthralled Jacqui Black, some of her favourites being Murder at the Gallop (1963) and Murder Most Foul (1964) both starring Margaret Rutherford. It was therefore no surprise that after 35 years in commerce, and after taking early retirement, she set about writing her first novel in the genre.
FATHOM is set in June 1919 on Exmoor where the shadow of Titanic hangs over a local aristocratic family, and is the first in a series of cosy mysteries featuring Lancelot Donaldson-Gilks and his adorable black Labrador puppy, Bob. A second in the series is currently in progress and will be published later this year.
She lives with her husband on Exmoor and enjoys playing bridge, visiting the theatre, reading, walking, cooking, and travelling. Having visited Europe, Africa, India, China, Malaysia and the Caribbean it is certain that exotic settings will feature in future novels.
