Rachel Abbott was born just outside Manchester, England, and spent most of her working life as the Managing Director of an interactive media company. After her company was sold in 2000, she fulfilled a lifelong ambition of buying and restoring a property in Italy where she lived for several years. She now lives on the beautiful island of Alderney, where she writes full time.
Rachel is the author of the DCI Tom Douglas series of thrillers, mainly set in Manchester, and the Stephanie King series, based in Cornwall.
In 2015 Amazon celebrated the first five years of the Kindle in the UK, and announced that Rachel was the number one bestselling independent author over the five-year period. She was also placed fourteenth in the chart of all authors. Stranger Child was the most borrowed novel for the Kindle in the first half of 2015.
Since then, Rachel has sold over 4 million copies of her books, which have been translated into over twenty languages.
