Bee Rowlatt is a writer and producer. Her award-winning travelogue In Search of Mary (Alma, 2015) was a ‘biography of the year’ (The Independent). She co-wrote the bestseller Talking about Jane Austen in Baghdad (Penguin, 2010) which was dramatised by the BBC, and she is one of Virago’s Fifty Shades of Feminism (2013). Her play about Mary Wollstonecraft debuted in London’s West End.

Bee’s fiction debut One Woman Crime Wave (Renard, 2024) is inspired by JB Priestley, and described by crime queen Liz Nugent as: “a fantastic novel about fractured families, class and the politics of parenting. Beautifully written and very moving.”

She hails from Yorkshire, was formerly a broadcast journalist for BBC World Service, has lived and worked in Colombia and New Delhi, used to be a showgirl and has four kids. (Image: Sveta Mishina)
