Patrick C WalshPatrick C Walsh

Sub-genre:

Patrick has been writing the Mac Maguire detective mysteries since 2015 and he has now published thirteen books in the series on Amazon.

His main character is a former police murder specialist whose disability becomes evident after his wife dies. Like the author, Mac Maguire has chronic pain issues and, no longer able to cover this up, he is forced to retire early from the police. He eventually starts up his own detective agency and he also works with the local police Major Crimes Unit from time to time as a consultant. The series is mostly set in the picturesque town of Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire and its environs although Mac’s adventures also take him to France, Ireland and Cyprus.

In his time Patrick has been a professional musician, automotive quality manager and intranet designer. He last worked for the BBC where he spend almost fifteen years, mostly working for the BBC Sounds website team. He is now retired and is writing full time.

He has found inspiration in reading classical crime authors such as Conan Doyle, Chandler, Hammett and especially Simenon as well as the works of Tony Hillerman and Henning Mankell.

Being disabled, Patrick has an interest in disability issues and in also seeing more, and more realistic, disabled characters in crime fiction.
