Simon Mawdsley

Simon has been writing and directing plays for the stage for over 30 years, with most of his works falling into the crime genre. His most successful play, AUDACITY (a heist drama) was published in 2006 by Samuel French, and is been performed regularly throughout the UK and internationally.
Other plays include; DETECTIVE FICTION, PAINTING BY NUMBERS (a prison drama), GLASS HOLLOW and HOUSEBOUND, which won several drama awards for both writing and direction. His most recent play INTENDED VICTIM premiered in November 2019 – which Simon describes as a “Who’s-it-going-to be done-to?”
Simon is the founder and artistic director of STRETCH THEATRE COMPANY.He also writes comedies, ghost stories and is writer-in-residence for children’s drama group Class Act Theatre School.
His favourite author is Raymond Chandler.
