Red Széll
Red Szell was born in 1969 and grew up on a diet of Green Penguins and epic adventure stories. An English degree from Cambridge University gave him an appreciation of the gothic macabre which was just as well since the only job he could find afterwards was as a mortuary porter in a Sussex hospital.
Escaping to London he worked on the newspaper diary columns for a number of years before his failing eyesight forced him to call it a day on trying to recognise famous people to interview. For the last fifteen years he has been a househusband and regular contributor to BBC Radio 4’s In Touch programme. In his spare time he is a keen rock climber and in 2013 became the first blind person to scale The Old Man of Hoy, an achievement filmed by The BBC.
A lover of ‘plausible crime stories’ his debut Blind Trust was published by Indepenpress in 2011, the sequel Well Sited is due in 2014.
