Stella Duffy is an award-winning writer with over seventy short stories, fourteen plays written and devised, and sixteen novels published in fifteen languages. She has twice won the CWA Short Story Dagger and twice won Stonewall Writer of the Year. Her latest novel is Money in the Morgue (HarperCollins) which was started and then abandoned by Ngaio Marsh at the end of WW2. It was shortlisted for the CWA Historical Dagger 2018.

Stella has also worked in theatre for over thirty-five years as an actor, director, playwright, and facilitator. She is the co-founder and Co-Director of the Fun Palaces campaign for cultural democracy. In 2018 there were 433 Fun Palaces across the world, in the UK, Ireland, Norway, USA, Australia and New Zealand, and 126,000 people took part.

Stella was awarded the OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2016 for Services to the Arts. She was born in London, grew up in New Zealand and has lived in London since 1986.
