Susi (S.J.I.) Holliday grew up in Scotland. She spent many years working in her family’s newsagent and pub before studying microbiology and statistics at university. She has worked as a statistician in the pharmaceutical industry for over twenty-two years, but it was on a six-month round-the- world-trip that she took with her husband in 2006 that she rediscovered her passion for writing.
She is the author of three mystery/noir/psychological novels set in the fictional Scottish town of Banktoun: Black Wood (2015), Willow Walk (2016) and The Damselfly (2017); and the festive serial killer thriller, The Deaths of December (2017). She has since followed these with The Lingering (2018) – a ghostly psychological thriller set in the fens, and Violet (2019) – a Highsmithesque noir set on the Trans-Siberian Express. Next followed The Last Resort (2020) and Substitute (2021) – technothrillers, published as Susi Holliday, and then two high-concept thrillers: The Hike (2022) and The Street (2023). Later in 2023, Detectives Carmine and Greene (introduced in The Deaths of December) will return in The Party Season. She is published by Hodder & Stoughton, Thomas & Mercer, Orenda Books and Black & White Publishing.
Her short stories have been published in Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine, Deadlier (ed by Sophie Hannah) and the 2017 CWA Anthology: Mystery Tour (ed by Martin Edwards), as well as in national newspapers – and several anthologies currently in the works.
Along with Steph Broadribb, Susi runs ‘Crime Fiction Coach’ – providing coaching and critique services to both aspiring and published authors.
