Mark Billingham is one of the UK’s most acclaimed and popular crime writers. His series of novels featuring DI Tom Thorne has twice won him the Crime Novel Of The Year Award as well as a Sherlock Award for Best British Detective and the CWA Dagger In The Library. In 2021 he was presented with the Theakstons Outstanding Contribution To The Genre Award. Each of his twenty-three novels has been a Sunday Times top ten bestseller and his debut, Sleepyhead was chosen by the Daily Telegraph as one of the 100 books that had shaped the decade. A television series based on the Thorne novels starred David Morrissey as Tom Thorne and in 2017 the BBC screened adaptations of two of his novels, In The Dark and Time Of Death. In 2023 he launched his first new series in over two decades with The Last Dance, which introduced DS Declan Miller.
Mark is a member of the Fun Lovin’ Crime Writers – a rock group which also features Stuart Neville, Doug Johnstone, Luca Veste, Chris Brookmyre and Val McDermid. They have been murdering songs for fun all over the world since 2017 and in 2019 they appeared at the Glastonbury Festival. A ridiculous thing for a man of his age…
